New Year, New Diet

Healthy golden retreiver with fresh carrots

It’s the New Year, people, which means it’s time for you and Buddy to start 2017 off right – starting with the first order of business: your diet. Much like cheap fast food doesn’t fuel our bodies with proper nutrients, cheap kibble is the same – it’s just a quick way to a full belly. Obviously your pet has no control over what goes into his bowl so it really comes down to you – so we ask: do you want to nourish your pet’s body with ground up cornmeal or single-source proteins that are freeze dried to maintain optimal nutrients and flavor? In an attempt to open your eyes to some of the benefits of a raw diet, here are some of our ingredients and their nutritional perks:

  • Beef Heart – Great source of thiamine, riboflavin, iron, zinc, taurine, phosphorous and more
  • Broccoli – Rich in Vitamin C, calcium, and soluble fiber
  • Apple – Provides soluble and insoluble fiber, flavonoids (powerful antioxidants with anti-inflammatory and immune benefits), beta carotene, potassium, and boron
  • Chicken Liver – Good source of lean protein, Vitamin A, and iron
  • Cranberries – Antioxidants and supports urinary tract health
  • Ground Beef Bone – Excellent source of minerals, fatty acids, and proteins as well as naturally occurring glucosamine and chondroitin for joint health
  • Lamb Kidneys – Provide ample protein with minimal fat
  • Parsley – Good dietary source of antioxidants, chlorophyll, and Vitamins A, C, and K
  • Salmon – Boasts essential amino acids and is considered hypoallergenic because it’s so easy to digest; provides an abundance of Omega Fatty Acids to nourish skin and regulate inflammation

And those are just a few of the high quality, human-grade ingredients we put into our food and treats. For the full rundown, go to the Learning Center, click the Product Benefits tab and then the Ingredient Benefits link – we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. We hope you take the New Year to consider all the ways to improve you and your pets’ lives but, as the pet food experts, we know that providing a quality diet is the best first step toward a long, healthy life.  Happy New Year!
